 | Victim Outreach | |
|
Outreach services are available for victims of domestic violence in the west valley who need support, but not shelter. Services focus on personal advocacy, individual and group counseling and empowerment training (addressing topics such as co-dependency, children and abuse, safety planning, domestic violence laws, communication, grief, anger and stress management, boundaries and self-esteem, love and intimacy, assertiveness/aggressiveness and healthy relationships).
Counseling progresses through a sequence of modules designed to empower victims to take charge of their lives and build healthy relationships. Group sessions are held weekly and are usually limited to ten participants so that cohesiveness and bonding can also take place. Individual counseling sessions are based on personal needs. Participants may remain in the program for up to six months, with extensions granted in exceptional cases.
