La Mesita Fact Sheet
La Mesita is a 30-unit family shelter that provides temporary emergency housing, case management, job development, licensed childcare (by the Department of Economic Security) and ancillary services to help homeless families with minor aged children become self-reliant. Infants and preschool children may receive childcare services at La Mesita’s Child Development Center, while school-aged youth may participate in La Mesita’s Youth Development Center. Services are provided at no cost to families.
The Child Development Center (CDC) licensed through Arizona DES, provides daycare and afterschool services for children (ages 5 and under) living at La Mesita. The CDC is a welcoming and nurturing environment where parents can leave their young ones while pursuing employment, counseling or educational services.

The Youth Development Center (YDC) staff work with youth ages 6 to 17 after school, during the school year, and all day during the summer. Sports, arts and science projects, homework assistance, community service projects, fieldtrips and other activities are planned on a weekly basis. Youth participating in the program take an acitve roll in planning program services.

La Mesita provides two 1,250 square-foot units to accommodate larger families and/or residents with disabilities. La Mesita is the only emergency shelter in the East Valley providing a broad array of services to homeless families.
Each year La Mesita provides up to 4 months of comprehensive shelter services to nearly 400 homeless adults and their children. To support La Mesita Shelter, please contact A New Leaf’s Development Department at (480) 464-4648.

East Valley Men's Fact Sheet
The East Valley Men's Center is an 84 bed emergency shelter founded in 1998 by MesaCAN and merged with A New Leaf in 2006.
This shelter is the home to men who may be emotionally or mentally challenged or functionally disabled often due to unhealthy lifestyles or choices. Additionally, many young men have aged out of the foster care system and have become homeless.
